Broken Heart

Sara walked as fast as her feet can carry her. She increased her speed it was like she was almost running. She hated the place, she hated everything about this place, and even if she literally belongs here she felt like an alien here. She wishes that she don’t have to make these trips here, where people are ready to kill you with their meaningful rude words. Normally Sara would ignore those comments from people who have actually nothing to do with her life. It had no meaning in listening to the nonsense they talk about. It was never a concerned for Sara to hear about those stories about her and comment on her own defense. But today everything was out of limit. She was in a lunch meeting with many parties for an official task, it was about the new project that her company was planning on. Sara had been traveling different location and attending meeting with people and shaking hands with the executives for the last three months. This was the last place on agenda that Sara and her team have to conduct meeting and find capable parties and ideas for this region.

Everyone in the meeting was from this place; Sara knows few of these people as somehow they are related to her family, while some are known by only their names. Everything was going on smoothly; Sara had given out a brief description about the project and has answered the all questions that had been asked by the people. It was later after the meeting and people were just talking casually that the man approached her. She had noticed him immediately; he was man in his fifties and somehow unbelievingly related to her family from here. He started talking to her asking about her parents, sara kept answering him with as short answers as she could because she had a bad feeling about this man from the moment he stood in front of her. Sara always knew people from here are very much interested in her personal life; it had always been a very famous and interesting topic for them to talk about her and her personal life and about the man’s in her life. Their curiosity never had been fulfilled and sometimes she was surprised to hear about the interesting and most horrifying stories about her that been discussed as the latest gossip among these people. After sometime the man’s query drifted from small talk to her personal life, the question he asked was direct and inappropriate. Sara felt uneasy but she was unable to excuse her self at the very moment. The question changed to harsh comments. Sara opened her mouth several time to shout out loud to shut up, but she was hopeless. As she knows she was in an official meeting with several guests around her. She kept quit while the man without any hesitation kept on criticizing her. At last Sara had enough she said to the men “please mind your own business” as politely as she could and walk out of the room snatching her bag from the table.

Sara walked out from the road in to the trees that were grown at the side of the road. She kept walking being furious with the man and herself, she wish she had said more to him that just what she said. Sara walked deep in to the trees till she saw a small building. The place look deserted even the building looks deserted; there was no sign of any living soul in there. The building wasn’t old but it had no life, maybe it’s a house used sometime ago and maybe the owners had moved to the cities Sara thought. She walked to the house and sat on a chair on the patio; she rested her head against the wall and closed her eyes. All the things that the man said came flooding back to her. Tears flowed from her close eyes, she was really hurt. How can people be so mean and rude? How can they assume they know so much about someone while they don’t have any idea about anything? Suddenly Sara felt a hand on her shoulder, she opened her eyes sitting next to her was Sam the man in her life now. Sam was in the meeting with her, he accompanied her on the trip to be with her as she was so busy for the last few months. Sara hugged Sam hiding her face in his shoulder, he lifted her from her chair and placed her on his lap and hugged her. Sara couldn’t hold any longer, she started crying aloud. She felt safe in Sam’s arm, it was like she was protected from any harm that is coming her way. Sam kissed her forehead and kept on saying ‘its ok babe’. Sara was in Sam’s laps hugging like a baby and crying as much as she wants; it was after a long time Sara stopped crying and composed herself back to normal. Sara knew Sam had seen what had happened inside. She opened her purse and pulled a compact from it, she looked in to the mirror and saw her eyes all puffed up from the crying. She cleaned her face with a tissue and powdered her nose and got up to leave. Sam was holding her hand, they started to walk hand in hand, Sara stopped Sam , he looked at her, Sara took a step toward Sam and hugged him. It meant a lot for her that he had been there for her that time to hold her during her emotional breakup. Sam knows her better, that she is a very tough women and it takes a lot to break her down like that in to tears. Sam hugged her back lifting her in to his arms. She laughed and whispered thank you darling to his ears softly.

Out of corner of her eyes she saw a man standing behind a tree near the house, her heart skipped a beat. She couldn’t believe her eyes. It couldn’t be.., she looked harder, she would know even the shadow of that man from anywhere. That man was the reason Sara got so hurt today, not only today, he was the reason Sara got hurt so far in her life and she don’t think she will ever get hurt so much ever. He was the reason why people still talk about her, he was the reason she get rude comments to her and being judge by so many people. Sara eyes filled with tears again, Sam released her and looked in to her eyes, he thought the tears was from the previous incident and has no idea that the tears was of some other reason that stood few feet away from them. He took her face in his hand and kissed each of her eyes separately and told her everything will be alright. They started walking again Sara turned and looked for a last time to the man who was looking at them. She realized even now it hurt so much as if it was yesterday, she turned away holding the hand of the man in her life, looking away from the love of her life, the man who broke her heart.
